Глагол to have в прямом значении переводится как иметь, обладать: I have got a cat. Я имею кота. Но мы же так по-русски не выражаемся, поэтому переводим: У меня есть кот.

В настоящем времени to have имеет 2 формы:

• have для всех лиц, кроме 3-го лица единственного числа
• has для 3-го лица единственного числа (he, she, it)

He/she/it has got	They have got

 

В разговорной речи в значении обладанияупотребляется словосочетание have got, has got (краткие формы 've got и 's got), особенно когда речь идёт о временном владении или только что приобретённом предмете:

We've got a nice dog.
У нас есть хорошая собака.

Вопросительная форма образуется путем выноса have в позицию перед подлежащим:

Have you got a dog?

Отрицательная форма have got образуется с помощью частицы  not,которая ставится после have и может с ним сливаться:

I have nоt got a pen. I haven’t got a pen.

Или можно поставить no перед существительным, тогда частица not не нужна:
I have got no pen here.

has not = hasn't
have not = haven't

Форма have got  характерна для британского варианта английского языка.

В американском варианте говорят просто have: I have a nice flat. Поэтому вопросительная и отрицательная формы образуются с помощью вспомогательного глагола do/does:

Do you have a lot of free time?	You do not (don’t) have a lot of free time.
Do I have a red dress?	I do not (don’t) have a red dress.
Do we have a lesson today?	We do not (don’t) have a lesson today.
Do they have textbooks?	They do not (don’t) have textbooks.
Does she have a shirt?	She does not (doesn’t) have a shirt.
Does he have a pen?	He does not (doesn’t)   have a pen.
Does it have a tail?	It does not (doesn’t)  have a tail.

                                                     

Как видно из примеров, do употребляется с 1, 2 лицом единственного и множественного числа, а также с 3 лицом множественного числа; does употребляется с 3 лицом единственного числа.

 

Каким из вариантов – британским или американским – пользоваться, выбор за вами, но знать нужно оба.

 Упражнение 9. Change the sentences into interrogative. Write short answers. Измени предложения так, чтобы они стали вопросительными. Запиши краткие ответы на них.
